DC restaurants launch ‘summer’ season Memorial Day weekend 2023

Hi-Lawn, Brickstones, dLeña, Atlas Brew Works unveil special events, menus to start unofficial summer season in DC

The unofficial summer season launches this weekend. After recognizing our fallen heroes, many of us in the DC Metropolitan area will indulge our freedoms at local eateries, supporting our hard-working restaurant owners and staff. There is plenty to enjoy this year. Here is just a taste.

Union rooftop bar Hi-Lawn, an expansive social gathering place in Washington, DC, will be hosting its Rooftop Grill-Out & Picnic Party each day during Memorial Day weekend. Expect to see a variety of activities, including live music, grilled eats, buckets of booze, festive cocktails, and lawn games. This is the event’s second year.

Hi-Lawn added to the menu racks of ribs, BBQ chicken, and sides like Mac and cheese and tamp/ charred dill potato salad.

At the bar, look for retro coolers packed with mix-and-match canned brews, spiked seltzers and adult juice boxes. Hi-Lawn will also provide a regular menu of seasonal draft cocktails, more than 20 canned. Draft beers, wine, and zero-proof beverages will be aplenty.

What’s more, Sunday, May 28 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., a live band will play 90s hits on the lawn.
