Summer Restaurant Week in DC kicks off

14th Street Corridor, Dupont Circle two neighborhoods with options in which to indulge

Summer Restaurant Week, organized by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), has arrived. There are dozens of participating restaurant in much of the DMV region offering prix-fixe menus for diners to sample new flavors and dishes. Reservations are still available at restaurants across Washington, DC and its suburbs.

The week-long event will offer a flexible way for diners in the Washington, DC area to enjoy special brunch and lunch menus for $25 per person. Dinner, too, will be part of special tastings with $40 to $55 per person multi-course meals being offered for in-restaurant dining.

Guests will have options during Summer DC Restaurant Week 2022 as far as being able to select dine-in or to-go orders. As such, many restaurants will offer the RW-To-Go dinner packages, available for $70 or $100 for two people, and $140 or $200 for four people.

The celebration ends August 21. And if you are living or working in-town, you don’t have far to go to check out local offerings.

Iron Gate

Iron Gate is a 2019 RAMMY Award Winner for Upscale Casual Restaurant of the Year. Iron Gate’s $55 Restaurant Week dinner menu provides a choice of starters: Cippollini Onion Agrodolce, Large Dakos Salad, Smoked Deviled Eggs, Warm Medjool Dates, Sweet Corn Arancini, and Daily Focaccia.

For the Second Course, consider the three choices carefully: Oak Grilled Lamb Kabob, Atlantic Swordfish 2 ways, and Stozza Pretti al Pesto. This round is served with a Caesar Salad, with anchovy, b & b onion, tomato, beet pickled egg and whole wheat-spelt flatbread, pepper flake, oregano, and pecorino sardo.

Bar Charley

A neighborhood fave, Bar Charley is offering the $40 dinner menu. a choice of three appetizers: P.E.I Mussels, with harissa butter, marinara, scallion, cilantro, and grilled bread; Fried Green Tomatoes, prepared with ramps, pimento cheese and hot honey; and Caesar salad, with Earth n Eats romaine, Caesar dressing, anchovies, parmesan, and croutons.

The Steak Frites starts with a 1855 c.a.b. Sirloin bavette, and is served with a mustard jus and French fries. As an alternative, guests can select the Pan Seared Halibut, with Swiss chard, dried spiced shrimp and olive & caper relish. Dieters will find it hard to skip dessert, with choices like the Classic Cheesecake with blueberry compote or the Molten Chocolate Cake.

Bar Charley has been nominated at the RAMMYS previously in different categories, including 2018 Cocktail Program of the Year.

For the $40 dinner menu at Lyle’s, there are four small place choices. Get dinner started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, Broccolini, Smoked Duck Croquettes, and Salmon Tartare. For Mains, try the Spring Pea Cavatelli with lamb sausage, Calabrian chili, lemon ricotta, and lamb jus, or the Fried Chicken with Warm Potato Salad and Chili Glaze. Other options offered on the menu include the Short Rib, with corn puree, fried cabbage and mustard seeds, and the King Salmon, prepared with soy-ginger, sushi rice, bok choy, and scallion.

Gypsy Kitchen

At Gypsy Kitchen, the $55 dinner menu starts with a choice of Hummus & Flatbread or Labneh & Flatbread. The second course offers a variety, including Tuna Tartare, with blistered corn, cherry tomatoes, yuzu ponzu, puffed rice furikake, and Grilled Pork Belly, served with blistered shishito, trumpet mushroom, and tamari harissa glaze. The third course features Kafta Kabobs, which is a plate of grilled beef kabobs, harissa couscous, and saffron yogurt.

At maiz64, start with the Tomato Salad or Fish Pâté, both on the $55 dinner menu. On the second course, there is the Chargrilled Rock Fish, with parsley marinated, fresh herbs and avocado salad, Squash Tamal + green pipian and Short Rib, served with peanut mole and grilled spring onions. Finish the meal off with Cheese Flan or Arroz con Leche.

Dolce Vita

At Dolce Vita, there are two dinner menus to be had. The $40 and $55 menus both offer three courses. On the $40 menu, second courses include Salmon, Risotto and Beef Chop, while on the $55 menu, guests can choose from Paella, Lamb Shank and Beef Chop as the mains.

The Salmon comes with baby corn, bell pepper, mushrooms, tomato confit, and shallots. Bomba rice, calamari, prawns, monk!sh, and mussels come together for the Paella Marisco (Seafood). The Lamb Shank’s 14-ounce Colorado shank is served with potato & charred eggplant zaalouk, roasted rainbow carrots, prunes and a lamb tagine-jus reduction.
