Tiki TNT rolls out specials on National Rum Day

Tiki TNT at the District Wharf is celebrating National Rum Day, Tuesday, August 16 with all-day specials. The Polynesian-style cocktail “dive” will feature owner Tod Thrasher’s award-winning rum and Happy Hour Daiquiris at half price.

Many in the area know Tiki TNT, which was named “Best Bars in America, 2021,” as a place to have a fun-filled time. Island drinks contribute to the care-free, laid back atmosphere, for sure. There’s the “Let Me Sit in a Bar in Paradise,” an aromatic blend of Thrasher’s Green Spiced Rum, Agricole Rum, vodka, falernum, mint, lime, and bitters; or the “Your Welcome” sharing El Dorado 5-year, Thrasher’s Spiced Rum, pineapple, lime, and hibiscus bitters, for example.

Guests can snack on playful creations, including Spam Musubi, featuring grilled slabs of the canned meat, layered between Sushi Rice wrapped in Nori, a modern twist using the ham-substitute.

The collection of spirits at Tiki TNT reflect Todd Thrasher’s distilling passion, which has come to life in the adjacent Potomac Distilling Company. The lauded spirits include the flagship release, Thrasher’s Green Spiced Rum. “The light, distinctive spirit is herbaceous, floral, and aromatic with hints of green citrus; it’s meant to impart flavors reminiscent of English Gin,” noted an announcement.

It’s said that Thrasher developed the recipe through experimentation, using herbs, Lemon Verbena, Lemongrass, Lemon Balm, Mint, and Green Cardamom, which is grown on the large rooftop garden of Tiki TNT.
