Tigerella opens at Western Market food hall in DC

Tigerella opened today at Western Market. The Italian-themed restaurant and bar will serve customers between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. The creators of Mount Pleasant’s Elle brought the project to life. The eatery, headed by chef Vincent Falcone, will add dinner service in early September.

For now, Tigerella will serve an assortment of baked goods plus coffee, sandwiches and treats from the cafe menu. In the dining room, fresh pizzas and rich pastas will become popular fare. The Bigoli pasta features tomato sauce, cultured butter, roasted onion, basil and ricotta cheese. The Bumbola includes beef & pork bolognese, oregano and pecorino.

Guests will have two choices of Grandma Slice pizza: Cheese and Pepperoni. Start off with a Brassicas Caesar Salad or Muffuletta Sandwich. There’s also Prosciutto & Roasted Peppers and the vegan Marinated Veggies & Provolone Sandwich.

Not surprisingly, wine and cocktails make up the majority of available adult beverages. A Nero d’Avola, Feudo Maccari Rose di Nere from Sicily can be had by the glass or bottle. The Abano Paisano features bourbon, Amardo Abano, cane sugar. Luxardo gin, sweet vermouth, maraschino, and orange bitters combine for the Martinez.

Western Market will see four more openings this year. The food hall will add Alitiko, a Greco-Middle Eastern concept later this month. In addition, ExPat, a sports betting bar as well as Hippo Taco, an Asian-fusion concept, will debut in the fall. And the addition of a Lucky Danger restaurant later this year will bring popular Chinese-American fare to the culinary hub.
