Comforting food, hybrid spaces, lush park greenery to make Dining in the Park year-round attraction
Surreal, a sister restaurant to acclaimed Seven Reasons, and Dining in the Park will debut in National Landing. Exclusive developer of the submarket, JBG Smith, notes the dining experience will be unique, with indoor and outdoor space that can be transformed and customized based on the needs and the season.
Seven Restaurant Group, the team behind Seven Reasons and Imperfecto, will manage the culinary destination that will be located at 2121 Crystal Drive in Arlington, Va. at National Landing, home of Amazon HQ2.
Set in the backdrop of a lush park and surrounded by mature trees, Dining in the Park will give Seven Restaurant Group an opportunity to customize it as needed. Imagine herb gardens or outdoor markets as part of the space and being able to stroll through the park while sipping wine or a favorite adult beverage. This is made possible by a new, commercial lifestyle designation.
“We are thrilled to partner once again with the incredibly talented Seven Restaurant Group for Surreal after a successful launch of Imperfecto in the West End,” said Kai Reynolds, JBG Smith chief development officer. “Surreal is truly a perfect fit for our Dining in the Park vision and the broader National Landing neighborhood. Their flavors and culinary philosophy integrated with nature will bring an approachable, yet diversified and sophisticated dining experience for any time of day.”
Surreal will make good use of the year-round indoor and outdoor seating and will accommodate patrons with breakfast, lunch and dinner menus that offer “comforting flavors,” said the developer. Seven Restaurant Group will also set up food carts selling gourmet street food, coffee, ice cream, beer, and wine in the surrounding area to the restaurant.
The restaurant group is led by Managing Partner Ezequiel Vázquez-Ger, award-winning chef Enrique Limardo, Creative Director Valentina Story, and Chief Business Development Officer Alex Alevras.
“Dining in the Park is an exciting addition to an already groundbreaking neighborhood, and I’m excited to bring a unique culinary venue to National Landing,” said Enrique. “Surreal’s dining atmosphere aims to excite the existing community and visitors alike to engage and interact with each other. This is a chance for people to slow down and enjoy a one-of-kind immersive, dining experience.”
Construction for Dining in the Park should begin in early 2022, with Surreal opening in 2023.
