Spring means on-the-water fun at District Wharf

Getting there on the water taxi is half the fun

Spring is in the air and the District Wharf has something for everyone. At Recreation Pier, the Wharf Boathouse offers walk-up service for kayak and paddleboard rentals on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes and tours can be booked in advance. For those who can’t stay away from the river, season passes can also be purchased.

DMV-area residents and visitors can experience single kayak, double kayak (2 adults), kayak orientation, stand-up paddleboard, and stand-up paddleboard orientation at Recreation Pier. Tickets range from $18 per hour to $55 per person.

Getting to the Wharf can also be quite a scenic experience on the water taxi, which is back in service. The water taxi offers service to and from Georgetown, Old Town, Alexandria and National Harbor, dropping off at 950 Wharf Street, Southwest.
