Latest hotel in portfolio to be managed by Donohoe Hospitality Services
A new Cambria Hotel opened at the Capitol Riverfront in Washington, marking the fifth location in the DMV. An upscale brand of Rockville, Md.-based Choice Hotels, the 154-room facility will offer convenient access to the nation’s capital, Nationals Park, the District Wharf, the Yards Marina, and the recently-built Audi Field stadium.
Choice Hotels continues to expand the Cambria Brand in the area, with locations in College Park, Rockville, Arundel Mills, and near the Walter E. Convention Center. Another location can be found in Ocean City, Md.
The hotel’s décor is contemporary, with accents that give a subtle nod to DC street art. The Cambria Hotel Washington DC Capitol Riverfront features a terrace spanning 3,500 square feet, opening in April, where beer will be served based on a menu, curated by the hotel’s own cicerone The in-hotel restaurant, RowHouse, will provide American cuisine and craft cocktails.
Guests will enjoy a fitness center with access to Peloton cycling and bootcamp classes. Pilates and Yoga are also part of the fitness program. Plus, Cambria Washington DC Capitol Riverfront was designed with 2,500 square feet of meeting rooms.
Interestingly, the cornice from the site’s original rowhouse is perched above the front desk to symbolize the “past, present and future” of Southwest, according to an announcement by the hotel.

Donohoe Development, in partnership with Koucar Management, developed the property, BBGM Architects was lead designer and interior decorator. Donohoe Hospitality Services will manage the Cambria Hotel—a first for the group, which will be followed by another hotel in Portland, Maine that is currently under construction.
Additional Cambria properties opening in the first quarter of 2021 include Rock Hill, South Carolina; Orlando, Florida; and Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida, which opened last month. Choice Hotels franchises 55 hotels under the Cambria label across the United States.
