Diversity of choices, cuisines makes Winter Restaurant Week a must-do in January
The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) announced the list of 2020 Washington, D.C. Winter Restaurant Week participating restaurants. Eateries representing nearly all of the neighborhoods in D.C. offer specials during Winter Restaurant Week, scheduled for January 13-19. Guests can enjoy multi-course meals at special pricing. Participating eateries offer dinner for $35, and lunch and brunch for $22, according to RAMW’s announcement. This pricing excludes tax and tip.
This year’s roster has plenty of diversity. Neighborhood favorites and acclaimed restaurants, alike, are involved and there’s much to discover among cuisine types, also. Restaurants that are considered hidden gems in Alexandria County, Fairfax County, Montgomery County have also joined the roster. The city and its suburbs can be explored through the menus of much-prized eateries. These include Espita Mezcaleria, Chima Steakhouse, and Kaliwa, among others.
RAMMYS 2019 finalist for New Restaurant of the Year Award—Kaliwa from Chef Cathal and Meshelle Armstrong—is participating. Winter Restaurant Week there can start with a choice of four appetizers to get the juices flowing. Picking just one is a tough challenge: Raw Yellow Fin Tuna with avocado and gochujang, and Crispy Shrimp and Pork Fried Rolls are two potential selections. The second course at Kaliwa lists selections that include Heritage Pork Belly, with house-made gochujang and caramelized onions, in addition to Blue Crab with Red Curry, thai basil and crispy garlic.
At Espita Mezcaleria, a three-course dinner can start with choices like tacos and ceviche, moving your way up to dinner. Dinner treats include Grilled Cauliflower, Camarones a la Diabla and Mole Negro. Dessert cn be a very sweet finish. Apple Cider Churros are one of the ways to finish off the meal. Brunch also has some interesting choices. Masa Waffles, Huevos Rancheros and the Vegetable & Quinoa Bowl are among the options.
At Chima Steakhouse in Tysons Corner, one pick from the Rodizio Grill awaits. Guests can choose from Flank Steak, Leg of Lamb, Parmesan Pork Loin, Chicken Wrapped in Bacon, Angus Picanha with Garlic, and others. A side dish and salad bar starter are also included as part of the three-course dinner. For $49.90, Winter Restaurant Week-goers can upgrade to the full Rodizio, with dessert included, as well.
