Events celebrating Oktoberfest 2019 in DC Region

Three events in DC, Md., Va. bring Oktoberfest atmosphere to life

There’s no lack of Oktoberfest events in the nation’s capital, and places to celebrate with good German beer. Whether you’re going to a restaurant or bar during late September or October, or planning a full day of fun at an event, there’s a way to celebrate it in the DMV. Here are three different events planned in the Greater Washington, DC region.

Wunder Garten Oktoberfest, DC

The Wunder Garten at 1st and L Street, Northeast in the NoMa District, is readying its 5th Annual Oktoberfest. The celebration,which started September 27, runs through October 6. There’s an assortment of music, events and entertainment. Enjoy Spaten, fRankzskaner and Hofbräuhau Märzen style beers will be flowing from the drafts. Enjoy locally-brewed beer also. Wunder Garten Oktoberfest attendees can enjoy the recreation of Munich Oktoberfest atmosphere in DC.

For the hungry, seek out Cafe Berlinand additional vendors serving German-style fare, including grilled bratwurst, Bauernwurst, Bretzels and Obatzter, original potato salad, Gurkensalat, and sauerkraut. Friday October 4, the Hostess Alexa Shontelle with Angella Zhane, Nubia Love-Jackson, and Katrina Colby bring on the PridetOberfest, with an appearance by Cheer DC and music by DJ Sidekick.

Oktoberfest at Wunder Garten, 1101 First Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

Oktoberfest, Vienna, Va.

Just outside DC, Oktoberfest in Vienna, Va. is an event to definitely consider. Attendees get to take in a good amount of beer, wine, food and entertainment. The Vienna Va. Oktoberfest will take place Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Local craft and German beer will be provided by Caboose Brewing Co., Main Beer Garden and Mill Street Food Court. Also, Vienna Vintner-Main Garden and the Wine Outlet Mill Street are partnering with the festival to provide wine.

Guests can enjoy traditional Oktoberfest fare from the German Food Main Garden and International Mill Street Food Court. Musical entertainment is split between the three stages: Main, Town Green and Center Street. Additionally, on the Town Green, children gather for organized kids activities.

The Vienna Va. Oktoberfest provides free admission with a-la-carte offerings around town. In addition, there will be shuttle service running from 10:30 a.m., as well as designated Uber pick-up and drop-off locations. Check out the website for additional details.

Germantown Oktoberfest, Md.

Germantown, Md. hosts its Oktoberfest celebration and Parade this Saturday. Catch the merriment along Century Boulevard, starting at 10 a.m. for the parade, then head over to the main event. The Germantown parade is at the center of the celebration featuring “High School bands, dance groups, teams, scouts, elected officials, color guard, and more,” said event organizers. Also, enjoy food, music and a lovely beer garden.

In addition, a live band will perform at BlackRock Center for the Arts. The Germantown Oktoberfest also boasts kid- and family-friendly activities, which are sure to draw crowds.
