Bronson Bier Hall opening in Ballston, Arlington

MacNac’s German beer hall to become fun, experiential gathering place

Bronson Bierhall is readying a soft opening Thursday, August 29 in Arlington, Va. The Ballston beer hall, operated by Chef Mike Cordero and MacNac Hospitality, will replace the former A-Town Bar and Grill. A media event, held on Tuesday, March 20, gave an opportunity to journalists and bloggers to have a preview of the Ballston neighborhood’s new beer hall. Lamb, beef and chicken sliders, sausages and other light bites provided a glimpse into the light fare and extensive beer menu that will soon be available.

We sent anchors Swizzle Chill TV Bryce Shemer and Chrissy Perez to the preview. They had a great time and were surprised at how well executed the media was. The talented Yvette Irene, restaurant designer, was on hand to speak about the accents and design elements of Bronson. She’s also the designer behind the upcoming Taco Rock by Cordero, president of MacNac Hospitality.

Irene, a master “artiste” and one well-suited to warm up the space, is using soft lighting, comfortable seating and large communal tables. Scott Parker and Nick Cordero are co-owners of the restaurant and partners of MacNac. Beer halls have not been overwhelmingly successful in Arlington, but MacNac appears poised for the challenge.

For happy hour, there are a variety of small bites to claim for one’s self or to share. Early bar-goers will have their pick of Stuffed Pretzel Bites, Bronson Meatballs, Das Bratwurst, Biercheese Dip and Chips, Lamb Sliders, Terrine, and Speck. For dinner, there’s a good selection of German and American selections. The Pub Burger and Grilled Cheese are sure to go down well with any one of the plentiful beer choices on tap. Enjoy a Bronson Reuben or Grilled Roasted Club Sandwich.

The Bronson Bier Hall menu will also include soups and salads and some decadent sides, including Waffle Fries and Mac and Cheese, and fun desserts. Arlington diners and visitors are sure to gravitate toward the Salted Caramel Cheesecake, a welcome treat. The Swizzle Chill team, including Lisa Comento, Shemer and Perez are most certainly returning once Bronson Bier Hall is open and running.
