Patsy’s brings nostalgia, Americana to life in Tysons
Best Buns and Patsy’s American are two new food destinations emerging in Tysons, Va. The Northern Virginia district of Tysons, which has seen a tremendous amount of retail, residential and commercial development as of late, is set to welcome Patsy’s American restaurant in a three-restaurant complex operated by Great American Restaurants (GAR). Best Buns Bakery & Cafe opened May 24 at the location, which is conveniently located close to Tysons Corner Shopping Center, the Tysons Corner Silver line metro station and Equinox fitness center. Patsy’s opens Friday, May 31 at 4 p.m.
Patsy’s has generated tremendous interest in the area. Patsy’s, with an opening date of one week from that of Best Buns, is named for one of the co-founders of GAR. The menu reflects an “All-American” classics venue, featuring raw-bar plates, salads, sandwiches, seafood, meat, and pasta. Guests will enjoy Patsy’s desserts, as well. hot fudge sundaes and warm bread pudding are just a few of the choices that will be available.
Best Buns Bakery opened May 24. Already a hit in Shirlington, the cafe features sweet and savory offerings throughout the day. The bakery will entice local and regular customers with its breakfast sandwiches, specialty sandwiches and bakery treats. A recent visit there rewarded us with a soft, flaky, butter warm croissant—much like an indulgence one would expect from a local, neighborhood bakery. The well-lit space will have a full complement of quick and tasty options.
Sandwiches include Chicken Salad with Apples, with walnuts, celery, Dijon, and watercress, on rustic Italian loaf, and Mike’s Favorite with ham, Havarti cheese, and Dijon mayo on Rosemary Bread—sure to seal the deal and win over regulars. Just next door, Patsy’s is a well-designed space. The restaurant was imagined by Great American Restaurants, Street Sense, and Leon Chatelain and was built by Forrester Construction. If the space is a reminder of an old-fashioned railway station, it’s no coincidence. The restaurant was designed to convey nostalgia and recall elements of Americana.
The space is envisioned and created with exposed brick walls, a sky-lit ceiling, and extensive green ironwork. Randy’s will open July 30. Said the announcement, “Randy’s Prime Seafood & Steaks warmly welcomes diners with its coffered ceilings, polished wainscot paneling, dedicated private dining room, green Mohair booths, and black-uniformed wait staff. Naturally, the main event is top-quality seafood and premium cuts of meat, prepared simply and with seasonal accompaniments.”
We’ll share additional information on these much-anticipated openings as it becomes available. In the meantime, navigate to GAR’s microsite.
