The race begins, ends at Rhode Island Avenue Shopping Center
The Metrolopitan Branch Trail (MBT) 5K takes place Saturday, April 27 this year. The race is a USATF-certified event on the flat portion of its paved section. The trail, itself, runs alongside the red line in Washington, D.C. There has been extensive restoration done through the years.
MBT runs from Union Station north to Silver Spring, Md. In 2015, workers finished a pedestrian bridge connecting the path to the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metro Station.
NoMa BID is a sponsor of the MBT 5K race. Runners gather at the race early Saturday morning. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Keep in mind there is no bag check-in here. The race, which starts at the Rhode Island Avenue Shopping Center, gets underway at 9 a.m. and the awards ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. To sponsor, volunteer or get additional MBT 5K race information, navigate to its website.
