Mardi Gras 2019 includes music, a parade, dance party, fireworks
The District Wharf will be celebrating Mardi Gras in style with a parade down Wharf Street, a dance party, live music on the District Pier, and fireworks Saturday, March 2. This is part of an event in which restaurants are also participating, with specials during the day. Tiki TNT is part of a growing number of restaurants participating in special District Wharf Mardi Gras offers. The popular Tiki TNT hangout, within the Potomac Distilling Company, will have New Orleans-themed food and drinks, appropriately, since its chef is from the same area and has been brought up in its rich traditions.
Additionally, Praline Bakery will be providing a 10-percent Fast Tuesday discount for customers and offering $30 King Cakes, which are ordered in advance (while supplies last).
Said the District Wharf announcement, “The parade will be set to the sounds of Batalá drumming and the Eastern High School Marching Band. Feast your eyes on custom-designed floats from our Wharf friends, restaurants, and retailers—including a float featuring the Washington Nationals and its president—along with dancers, mascots, hoopers, and stilt walkers.”
Additionally, Camp Wharf will have Mardi Gras décor available.
As part of District Wharf Mardi Gras events, the musical performance on the Pier will feature Junkyard Saints. Also, kids will have their fun with activities and crafts provided by the Wharf. The day is filled with something for the entire family and starts at 2 p.m, culminating in fireworks at the end.
