New restaurant at 4040 Wilson Boulevard arrives in 2020
Rising above Ballston is 4040 Wilson Boulevard, a joint redevelopment by Brandywine Trust Realty and The Shooshan Company, set to open in 2020. Its newest announced addition is the second location of the Salt Line, which has made a splash at The Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. The Salt Line will bestow the ground floor of the high-rise building with its sea-inspired fare, craft beer and lively cocktail scene. by early 2020.
Long Shot Hospitality, powered by the team of Jeremy Carman, Gavin Coleman, Paul Holder, and Chef Kyle Bailey, will add a unique seafood-centric culinary take to the development. Residential residences will loom above the office spaces, and new tenants and area residents will now be able to descend upon the restaurant for a sophisticated dining experience.
Whether for oysters at the bar or a quick to-go dinner, taken on the run up to the lofty offices and apartments towering above, The Salt Line Ballston will be built to deliver. “We’re especially excited to activate the great outdoor space here in downtown Ballston, replicating the open-air plaza that’s been so popular at the (Navy Yard) D.C. location,” notes Gavin Coleman, Long Shot partner. Long Shot anticipates the restaurant being a neighborhood gathering place, well-suited for socializing and grabbing bites and sips after work.
Grizform Design Architects will be heading up design of the new space in Arlington. The Salt Line Ballston restaurant will seat approximately 100 inside and 100 outside (weather permitting). In its emailed announcement, Long Shot said, “Visual continuity between the two sister locations will be achieved by similar palette, finishes, and design elements, from the restaurant’s signature blue-and-white window arches to the nail-head trim on the tidy banquettes to the retro-brass lighting fixtures.”
New England’ish cocktails, including the“Copley Square” and “Concord Hymn” are an homage to the seaside New England City of Boston, Mass. Brandywine Realty Trust’s core focus in the Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Austin markets, and the development expertise of The Shooshan Company should lead to the successful delivery of 4040 Wilson Boulevard in early January for commercial leasing and spring 2020 for residential move-ins.
