Eateries offer tasty selections for DC Summer Restaurant Week

A plethora of acclaimed restaurants to offer specially-priced menus during Summer Restaurant Week 2018

Summer Restaurant Week 2018 in Washington, D.C. is just around the corner. Sponsored by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, the event is being held August 13-19, 2018. Restaurant Week enables customers to sample dishes from restaurants they might not normally patronize to special pricing. Lunch will be served for $22 and dinner is being served for $35 at participating restaurants. When served, brunch will be priced at $22.

These are suggested price points for the menus and the offerings typically do not include drinks, taxes or gratuity.

At Chef Geoff’s in Tysons, Va., restaurant week brunch includes several choices with inspiration including the baja burrito, which include scrambled eggs, chorizo, black beans and avocado, jack cheese, pico de gallo, and the Parisian Eggs Benedict, served atop a crusty baguette, with smoked ham, garlic spinach, truffle hollandaise and pecorino. Both choices are served with crispy yukon potatoes.

The Unconventional Diner, located in the Shaw, will have American faves like the Chicken Parm and Double Cheeseburger as main dishes to choose from during Summer Restaurant Week dinner, and also something a bit more global, like the Miso Salmon with broccolini, okra and Gochujang sauce. Chocolate Fudge cake, carrot cake and Passion Mango Sorbet are listed as the dessert choices.

Ensalada de Verano will be one of the appetizer choices at SER: mango, avocado, tomato and micro cilantro salad. If chicken is your thing, for the main course, try the Braised Chicken, black garlic, piquillo, fried nduja-pickled onions. Dessert options include the Churros con Chocolate, which is traditional Spanish fried dough with chocolate mousse.

Over at City Perch & Kitchen at Pike & Rose, the Summer Restaurant Week lunch menu is a curated selection. The three appetizers that are being served are the Caesar Salad, Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice and Crispy Green Beans. The Spicy Tuna sounds like a winner. It’s served with pickled ginger, wasabi and tobiko. City Perch & Kitchen entrées will include a Grilled Atlantic Salmon, served with caramelized sweet corn with cherry tomato, fresh tarragon & herb oil. Another entree choice will be the Crispy Clucker, which is a house-spiced fried chicken that is served with red pepper aioli, wild arugula, heirloom tomatoes, pickles and onions. Dessert choices are the Chocolate S’mores Cake and the Raspberry Red Velvet Pavlova, a meringue with ice cream.

Alta Strada’s lunch menu served in the Mosaic District has many options, and the meal includes an appetizer, entree/salad/sandwich and dessert. The restaurant’s appetizers include the Prosciutto di Parma with fig jam & crostini, the Arugula Salad with lemon, extra virgin olive oil, & shaved parm, and the Housemade Ricotta Crostini. Salad choices appear to be both tasty and healthy; for example, there’s the Quinoa & Kale Bowl Apples with butternut squash & pomegranate.

The Wild Mushroom Cheeseburger* Truffle Aioli and Turkey Sandwich Avocado with bacon & spicy Calabrian chiles are just two of the sandwich options. And there are a variety of pizza, pasta and entree choices to round out the plentiful menu.
